"We Won't Die Sleeping"
"We Won't Die Sleeping" is a photo project that captures the stories of former Soviet countries, with this particular episode focusing on Mongolia and its nomadic way of life. The title is no coincidence—it comes from a well-known Mongolian saying that powerfully reflects the resilient spirit of the people. The project explores the striking contrast between the country's deep-rooted traditions and the pressures of modern progress, which are forcing many nomads to abandon their ancestral lifestyle and settle near urban areas. In early 2019, I traveled to northern and southern Mongolia to document the daily lives of several nomadic families.
